A large colony of bat pups was found on the ground after storm damage caused a tree branch to fall in Collier County. Wildlife rehabilitators and volunteers from the Conservancy of Southwest Florida worked with partners to examine and safely renest 145 of the 156 Brazilian free-tailed bats back with their mothers. The effort involved hanging a bat box and using a “pup catcher” to help the babies reconnect with the colony.
